MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The HR Intern will support the Human Resources team with a variety of administrative and coordination tasks related to employee lifecycle management, onboarding, training administration, HR systems, and employee engagement initiatives. This role provides valuable exposure to core HR functions while ensuring that HR processes run efficiently and accurately.

HUMAN RESOURCES INTERN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Onboarding and Offboarding

  • Manage onboarding documentation for new employees, ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on time.
  • Forward completed onboarding documentation to the relevant parties for processing.
  • Send communication to relevant internal stakeholders regarding new hires.
  • Collect and verify the accuracy of exit documentation for employees leaving the organization and submit it for processing.

HR Administration

  • Maintain accurate employee files and ensure all employee documentation is correctly filed and updated.
  • Assist with preparing HR-related documents and maintaining employee records and databases.
  • Verify the accuracy of employee information in the HR Sage system using the provided confirmation data.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team as required.

Scheduling and Coordination

  • Schedule meetings, including interviews, onboarding sessions, and three-month probation reviews.
  • Send reminders for key HR processes such as learning map submissions and track any delays.
  • Manage start date tracking and ensure relevant processes are completed accordingly.

Training and Compliance

  • Capture and maintain monthly training records and registers.
  • Assist with BEE-related submissions and training reporting.
  • Maintain training documentation and ensure records are accurate and up to date.

Organizational Updates

  • Update company organograms monthly to reflect staffing changes.

Employee Engagement and HR Projects

  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives such as company events and employee recognition programs.
  • Support the HR team in coordinating employee orientations, training sessions, and workshops.
  • Contribute to HR projects and initiatives, including HR process improvements and policy development.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Final-year HR students or recent graduates may also be considered.
  • 0–1 year of administrative or HR-related experience.
  • Internship, vacation work, or practical HR training will be advantageous.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team

OFFICE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Office-based working environment.
  • Semi-formal dress code.
  • Working hours are from 08:00 – 17:00.
  • Excellent international business language skills (English), both written and verbal.
  • Reliable transport to and from the office.

  • This is a 12-month internship contract.
  • You will be required to perform such duties as reasonably required by the business.
